Provide multiple strategies to prepare student for college or career. One of these strategies is for students to read the content material before class discussion. Because student reads the information and take notes before discussion they are exposed to the content, which allows them to concentrate on the class discussion instead of focusing on taking lecture notes. Using Cornell note summaries and concept mapping (they include concepts, usually enclosed in circles or boxes of some type, and relationships between concepts indicated by a connecting line linking two concepts) is another way for students to analyze the material and be able to use that understanding to make connections between scientific concepts.
Every evening students are expected to read over or review the concepts discussed in class.
